AUSTRALIAN netball legend Liz Ellis came to Port Macquarie yesterday to oversee some future talent.
More than 50 kids aged from eight and upwards turned out at the Macquarie Park courts to be put through their paces by the former skipper and the most capped Aussie player of all time.
It’s the second time the Liz Ellis Netball Clinic has come to Port Macquarie.
“We had so much fun last time, we had to come back,” Ellis told the kids.
The emphasis of the day was fun but safety was also important, especially given the hot conditions yesterday.
Clinics such as Ellis’s weren’t around when she was learning the intricacies of the game.
“I would have desperately loved one of these,” she said.
“I would have been a netball nerd here at 7.30 and pestering all the coaches.
“When I look back on my childhood I think what a shame these sort of things weren’t running because I would have absolutely loved them.”
