The owner of household appliance store Port Macquarie The Good Guys, Mr Green recently donated an LED television to the Paediatric Unit at Port Macquarie Base Hospital.

The gift was organised after an astute cleaner, Ken Dick, noticed the TV in the parents' lounge had been removed because it no longer worked.

Mr Dick sought out the businessman who had generously supported his fishing club's fundraisers. And The Good Guys store owner didn't hesitate.

"The hospital's staff do a wonderful job, but in the big picture of building works and hospital equipment, TVs aren't a priority," Mr Green said.

"I was more than happy to help out. No one wants to be in hospital, but if you have to be there, it's great to know businesses such as mine can make a difference for patients and their families."

Nursing Unit manager Cheryl Nolte said parents sometimes spent a significant amount of time in the lounge, waiting for their child to return from a surgical procedure, and the television was often a welcome distraction.

"It was very good of Mr Green to offer his assistance, and he can be assured his TV is well used and much appreciated," Mrs Nolte said.
