Lions' zone chairman Neil Tubb said it was a difficult decision to hold off on the event.
"Port City Lions Club were to host the event on Sunday but it has been unfortunately postponed," he said.
"But, in some good news, the Tacking Point and Port Macquarie Lions Club will jointly host the rescheduled event later in the year.
"This is a very popular, fun and family-oriented event and we are very keen to ensure it maintains its status within the Port Macquarie and wider Hastings area.
"It will certainly be a bigger, better and brighter event ... we are looking to the future and we are looking for community ideas to ensure this event maintains its ranking as a major attraction in our area."
Mr Tubb said a rescheduled date will be discussed by the joint hosts and this will be announced in the near future.
The zone chairman said it was part of the Lions charter to host and run events within any community where the movement had a club.
"All the Lions clubs in this area are heavily committed to their respective communities with the Tacking Point club the host of the Australia Day activities and catering for the ironman event while the Port Macquarie club hosts the annual grocery grab, a holiday raffle and the Save Sight car raffle," Mr Tubb said.
"As well, all our clubs are involved in the supply of cakes, puddings and mini slices at Christmas time."

Meanwhile, fingers are crossed for the wonderful autumn weather that shows off the Camden Haven's splendour as Laurieton Public School P&C gear up for another successful market day on Easter Saturday, April 19. The markets aim to have something for everyone with a variety of stalls. The markets are open to the public from 8am until 1pm although road closures are in place on Bold Street and Seymour Street from 6am-2pm.
Mat Brooker, a Latin fusion acoustic guitarist who provided atmosphere at last year's markets will be back to entertain and provide atmosphere to Bold Street. The markets are a fundraising event with funds going towards purchasing educational equipment and resources for the students of Laurieton Public School.
Visitors and locals can take advantage of the closed main street to shop at the markets with ease and check out the local shops and what they have to offer.
"Make a day of it - there is always plenty to see and do in the Camden Haven," co-ordinator Fiona Smith said.
