Mid North Coast Local Health District Chief Executive Stewart Dowrick said the figures, revealed at United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW North Eastern Region Zone Day in Kempsey, were remarkable.
"Our volunteers are remarkable people," Mr Dowrick said.
"They find the time and energy to support our hospitals, our staff and, most important of all, our patients.
"Thank you for the work that you do. It makes a difference, and is greatly appreciated," Mr Dowrick said.
The 2014 Zone Day, held at Kempsey Heights Bowling Club on Monday, was hosted by the Kempsey Branch of the United Hospital Auxiliaries (UHA), and attended by 55 branch delegates from throughout the Mid North Coast.
State President Marion Dickins also attended, along with Kempsey Mayor Liz Campbell, UHA Zone Patron John Bowell, and the UHA's Regional Representative, Phillipa Passfield.
Mrs Passfield said her team of volunteers from Bellingen, Bowraville, the Camden Haven, Coffs Harbour, Dorrigo, Kempsey, Macksville, Nambucca, Port Macquarie and Wauchope worked hard for their local hospitals and should be proud of their efforts.
"I congratulate our volunteers on their fundraising this year, which has reached $308,986.98. In the past year they have gifted $374,835.98 to our hospitals to purchase much needed equipment and they have given to our hospitals 81,333 hours of their valuable time in work.
"Where would our hospitals be without them," Mrs Passfield said.
The Zone Day was an opportunity to review the day-to-day business of the UHA branches, but was also an opportunity to acknowledge outstanding service by branches and individuals.
Life membership was awarded to Gwen Bullock of the Kempsey branch for her service spanning more than half a century.
The president of the Wauchope branch, Mr Roger Adams, was also presented with a special award recognising the outstanding effort of his volunteers in raising $50,000 for the Wauchope Hospital's new Palliative Care Unit.
