When you’re a foundation relying on funding and community support like the Willing & Able Foundation, $2000 is a Godsend.
The foundation: “provides meaningful employment and personal growth opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities in a safe and happy environment whilst providing quality service to its customers.”
It has 30 staff and people are individually placed in work most suited to their physical and intellectual strengths and personal preferences.
Around Christmas, the foundation’s members were disheartened to see their op-shop collection point was treated as a dumping ground for unwanted and unuseable goods.
The urge to build a fence to help control this irresponsible behaviour was turned into a reality when an anonymous donor left a cheque for $2000 after reading the story in the Port News.
There are some fine people out there – hats off to you.
