Having been residents since the early 70s growing up, attending schools and now working in Port Macquarie, we feel that we are almost qualified to pass judgment on the ridiculous controls which it seems our council will inevitably enforce on the ‘freeloading’ campers at our beautiful beaches.

Let them stay, we say!

They bring a wonderful carefree, camping vibe to our beaches. Honestly, they do much more good than harm, always friendly and tidy. It is a pity that our council will once again see dollars rather than what is good for the town.

These, generally young people, spend money on food, entertainment and fuel which our economy benefits from.

Anyway, we hope to get used to it. With the universities coming to town we might just get an influx of youth which will make our town vibrant. Something we both look forward to.

Remember young people spend money so are great for the economy apart from having a positive outlook on life.
