The NSW Country Under 16 Carnival (Bradman Cup) is in Singleton/Maitland from January 6-9.
Chris Newbound and Sam Johnson have gained selection in the North Coast team. Johnson will open the bowling with his left-arm, Mitchell Johnson-like thunderbolts while Newbound will bat in the top order and also bowl some leg spin.
The NSW Country Under 14 Carnival (Kookaburra Cup) is in Newcastle from January 13-16.
Hastings players Angus Thurgate, Fraser Carroll and Isaac Trow have been selected in the North Coast team.
Thurgate will keep wicket and bat in the top order as well as captaining the team. Trow will open the bowling with his left-arm swinging deliveries while Carroll will bat in the middle order.
Eight Country Zones compete in these championships and the North Coast Zone sides will be keen to repeat the strong performances from 2013 where the teams finished second in the Kookaburra Cup (defeated by Central Coast in the final) and third in the Bradman Cup.
Wauchope wicketkeeper/batsman Darren Bourke will also be on representative duties after being selected to tour New Zealand with the Northern NSW Under 21 team (Emus) from January 5-19.
Bryan Warren from the Manning District was also selected in this team.
