Strong wind warning issued

DAMAGING winds are expected to hit Port Macquarie later today.

The Bureau of Meteorology this morning issued a severe weather warning of damaging winds for the Mid North Coast.

Wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h are being observed along coastal parts of the Sydney Metropolitan, South Coast and Illawarra forecast districts and are expected to hit the Hunter and Mid North Coast districts this afternoon and evening.

The Bureau is warning residents to:

Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.

Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.

Keep clear of fallen power lines.

Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.

Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
