The weather forecast isn't good, but the Thunder is due to take on Manning River at Oxley Oval.
Manning is the team which knocked the Thunder out of contention last year on a rain-affected Taree wicket.
The deck could look much the same this year.
If it is wet, Thunder skipper Rod Price will certainly think harder about electing to bat should he win the toss, like he did last year.
"It probably wasn't the best captain's decision," he said.
"We didn't bat well enough. Then we were found a little bit wanting with the ball."
This year the side will have the added firepower of Luke Jephcott. He has been scoring runs with the Port City Leagues Magpies in first grade.
"We've checked his birth certificate, and he's 35," team manager Nik James said.
James looks particularly fearsome at the moment, with a moustache which resembles a cross between Hugh Jackman in Wolverine and former Australian fast bowler Merv Hughes.
The bulk of the side is the same as last year and, like previous seasons, Price was expecting a good game.
"They usually give us a good run," Price said.
"Sweet revenge could be nice though."
The big threat of the competition is the Oxley Cutters. The Wauchope-based side took out the competition last year.
The two teams are due to come together on November 8 at Andrews Park.
Before that the Thunder will play on Gloucester at Oxley Oval on November 1.
