It’s an all-coast affair in round one when Coastal takes on Hastings Cavaliers in a 30-over game at 9am before they play round two – a twenty20 match – against Central Northern at 2.15pm.
On Sunday, Coastal plays Western at Wayne Richards Park at 9am before the elimination finals in the afternoon.
There are matches at Oxley Oval all weekend too.
North Coast Zone’s Gavin Newbound said it was a coup to have players of such a high standard in town.
Newbound said that hadn’t happened in Port Macquarie since Viv Richards, Tony Greig and others came to town for a World Series match in the late 1970s.
Newbound encouraged spectators to get out and watch the action.
“I think people would be surprised at the standard of women’s cricket at the top level,” he said.
All matches will be of a high standard, but the two twenty20 matches – on Sunday night and Monday morning – which pit City and Country against each other will be the highlight of the weekend, Newbound said.
“It should be a great exhibition,” he said.
