Entertainment guru Vickii Byram’s weekend wrap

WHO doesn’t like a gala opening night? There may not be a red carpet at this one but there is guaranteed to be quite a few laughs.

Tonight is the debut of the Pacific Highway – A Musical Comedy Revue, written by ABC radio man Cameron Marshall and Peter Tregilgas of Regional Development Australia.

A $30 ticket gets you a program, a glass of wine, some nibbles and the 8pm show.

If you feel like chillin’ to strains of jazz music on Sunday there are two choices.

Jazz in the Vineyards at Bago Vineyards, Wauchope features well–known Hastings musos Russell Dick Trio. Tickets are $5 for adults, the gates open at 10am with music from 11am.

Sunday’s other jazz venue is The Westport Club where The Jumping Fleas will have you itching to get up and dance.

The ukulele strumming–foursome play a great range of music from the Beatles, and Springsteen to Sachmo and Duke Ellington – with a twist.

Catch their infectious sound from 1pm until 4pm. Tickets to Saturday’s 8pm performance and Sunday’s 2pm show are $27 for adults.

There is also a Wednesday night show at 8pm and the revue runs until July 22.

The cellar door will be open, but you can take a picnic or enjoy food from Bago Jazz Cafe, taste the wines and indulge in the on–tap boutique beer.

So get there before the 8pm curtain so you have time to enjoy the experience.
