HEALTH staff have been encouraged to roll up their sleeves to give blood.
A barbecue catered for 300 people at Port Macquarie Base Hospital on Wednesday to promote a blood donation campaign.
Unions NSW has backed the NSW Nurses’ Association initiative.
They are calling on almost 700,000 union members statewide to donate blood.
NSW Nurses’ Association Branch secretary Lynda Binskin said blood donations were always needed.
“It is one of the ways unions are trying to support the health system by encouraging people to donate blood,” she said.
The campaign hit the north coast this week.
Unions NSW campaign director Mary Yaager said the campaign had been really well received.
