THE mess that has become Lake Road’s traffic accident blackspot leaves a number of questions begging answers.
How this has gone on for 14 years without the necessary traffic improvements to keep pace with
Port Macquarie’s growth beggars belief - anyone who has driven it during busy work hours in recent weeks can testify to that.
More importantly how this issue was not made a priority in Port Macquarie-Hastings council’s last four-year corporate plan is equally one that residents and businesses need to ask themselves.
The blame for this lies somewhere between council’s budget issues and the inabilty for residents to getfunding priority in the exhaustive,
but seemingly fallible, public exhibition process. But for now, council must listen to the people and consult further about the funding priorities - and hopefully find a way to avoid potential tragedy.
