You’ve got to admit it’s getting better as the time for the yellow submarine to surface nears and everyone will be glad all over when the music starts.
Tonight tribute band The Beatnix will make it a good night as they get back and resurrect memories of every little thing baby boomers were doing in the swinging ‘60s and helter skelter ‘70s.
Laurieton United Services Club will not slow down as The Beatnix dish out some favourite ballads in a non-stop repertoire of 35 songs from 8pm.
Tomorrow it’s a rev heads paradise in the Food For Less car park as members of Hastings Old Holden Car Club, Mid North Coast Ford Owners Club, the Hastings Auto Restorers Society and the Port Macquarie Antique and Classic Car Club Inc, among others, show off their precious vehicles.
Get a taste of some of the bad boy cars that cruised the streets when Beatlemania reigned.
The enthusiasts won’t say baby you can drive my car, but they will please please you from 11am until 3pm.
Port Macquarie Panthers is the place to do the hippy hippy shake on Saturday night as The Beatnix Dance Party will make everyone feel fine from 8pm.
A street parade on Sunday will see the closure of Horton Street from 10.45am until 11.30am and the temporary halting of traffic at the Clarence Street and William Street intersections while the parade moves through them.
The parade will feature the Port Macquarie-Hastings Town Band, some business teams, about 60 cars and the Rock and Roll Dancers and heads out at 11am.
Vendors from The Foreshore and Artists in the Vines markets will dot the Town Green from 9am until 4pm and entertainment from top Hastings talents will belt out near Rydges Port Macquarie from noon until 4pm.
“Unless it is torrential rain, which isn’t predicted, everything is on track,” committee member Janette Hyde told the Port News yesterday.
