Acting Governor-General Marie Bashir inspected the damage caused by the weekend floods when she visited the Hastings yesterday.
Accompanied by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council mayor Peter Besseling the NSW Governor spoke of the devastation apparent from the helicopter which flew her to Wauchope.
However, the Wauchope Gazette reports, she was heartened by the buoyancy and resilience of local people and the natural beauty of the area, which was obvious even in the wake of the natural disaster.
