The stylish residential aged care facility celebrated its first year operating in Port Macquarie on Wednesday.

More than 200 guests came along to the event, enjoying live music, speeches and delicious delicacies.

Pink was the theme of the party and the 97 residents mingled with guests throughout the evening.

The first resident to move in on February 13 last year was Eva Phillips, 84.

Mrs Phillips said the staff were the best elements of her new home.

“It’s nice to be somewhere I’m cared for by wonderful staff,” she said.

Service manager Renee Yates said Mingaletta had 80 people on its waiting list.

Spacious living areas mirroring the cosiest of homes are hot property for those seeking high and low care.

Mrs Yates works closely with the Port Macquarie Base Hospital to develop strategies to reduce pressure on the hospital and enhance health services at the facility.

A Mid North Coast Local Health District dental van visits regularly, a full time physiotherapist is available as well as visiting auditory specialists.

With 110 beds, the facility expects to have all residents settled in the coming months.

“We focus on building a community and offering a household model of care,” Mrs Yates said.

Paintings, cosy nooks equipped with comfortable arm chairs and tables spread throughout each “household” allow residents to chat together or take time out alone.

All medical equipment is discreetly stored in separate rooms to maintain a home-like atmosphere.
