Bored at the beach? There's no reason now

Looking for something different to read, or a scenic location to kick back with a good book?

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council libraries have launched the Books @ The Beach collection, a free book borrowing service outside Flynns Beach Surf Club.

You can borrow a book from the selection on offer and return it to any branch library in Port Macquarie, Wauchope or Laurieton.

The free service, which has run successfully for a number of years from Port Macquarie Airport, aims to not only provide beachgoers with a selection of great books over summer, but to also acquaint residents and visitors with the services on offer at Port Macquarie-Hastings libraries.

Mayor Peter Besseling said Books @ The Beach is yet another great initiative by library staff.

“Anyone who has been down to Flynns Beach over the holidays will know that thousands of people have been enjoying this beautiful part of our coastline. Offering beachgoers a free, fun and accessible library service is just another way for our fantastic library team to extend their services beyond the bookshelves,” Cr Besseling said.

Each year Port Macquarie-Hastings libraries loan more than 800,000 books including titles from the e-book collection.
