This was the scene of a very bad car accident in which a driver snapped a large telegraph pole in half. Somehow the driver walked away unscathed. The photograph is a favourite of mine as it shows the dejection of the driver as he's given a roadside breath test with the utter carnage of the wreck shown just metres away. Pic: MATT ATTARD

In this photograph I wanted to show a tough and mean Mitch Fowler, arguably the best rugby league player on the Mid North Coast, as he prepared for battle. Pic: MATT ATTARD

George Jones is a tough and gritty rugby league player, known for bashing bodies and scoring tries. However, this image shows the calmer side as he prepares for a finals match. I set up two external photography flashes for this image, the first to light the subject and the second to create a starburst from behind. Pic: MATT ATTARD

This is one of my favourite photographs because of the raw emotion and innocence of the scene. Drew De Silva, just four sleeps before Santa visited, was in a very happy mood on the jumping castle as his parents listened to Christmas carols at the racecourse. Pic: MATT ATTARD

Being a media photographer isn't all fun and games and often results in having to attend tragic scenes and events. This image shows friends and family of young Port Macquarie resident, Gavin Langdown, laying candles at a memorial after he was tragically killed in a car accident. Pic: MATT ATTARD

On a hot weekend afternoon, the sun was out in full force as motocross riders faced the track. For this photo, I was laying on the side of the table-top jump with a wide angle lens, hoping to catch a rider in sillouhette as they soared over the ramp. Pic: MATT ATTARD

Freezing the action and capturing the moment is the best thing you can do when shooting a sporting event and this photo of Port Pirates rugby union player Matt Mane planting the ball down to score is one of my favourite images simply because of that. Pic: MATT ATTARD

This patient had just had his finger bitten off by a bull shark. As he was being treated by paramedics, I was able to get close to the helicopter and snap a quick shot as he lifted his head to peer out at the beach. Pic: MATT ATTARD

I really like this image as it shows a beautiful sweeping sky and glistening sand, a big contrast to the horrible shark attack near Laurieton. Pic: MATT ATTARD

After each shot, the shooters will clear their guns of the ammunition shells, often catching them. Steve Wallis would let his shoot up and out of the gun, something not a lot of shooters would do, which allowed me to capture this image. Pic: MATT ATTARD.

Snooker isn't a sport that I get to photograph very often, but it's certainly an event that involves a lot of patience and quietness. I love the concentration shown on Michael Cosh's face in this photo. Pic MATT ATTARD

Lake Cathie Raiders player Matt Johl scooted from dummy half and dove over for a try between the posts. Being in the corner, I was able to capture the try from a unique angle as he popped through the opening of the goalposts. Pic: MATT ATTARD
