International star Dame Kiri headlines Glasshouse 2013 program

BRILLIANT opera star Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will perform at the Glasshouse in March next year.

Dame Kiri said she is: “looking forward very much to the 2013 Australia tour”, which will alow her to visit , albeit briefly, parts of australia she has never experience previously.

Glasshouse performing arts program manger Belinda Gibson warned opera lovers to “get your tickets fast”.

The operatic superstar is New Zealand’s favourite daughter and will perform at our award-winning entertainment centre on March 13, 2013.

At the season 2013 launch last night, a bolder, more diverse program was unveiled with a more flexible membership option rather than season tickets.

Ms Gibson said there is no need to commit to buying multiple shows to secure the best seats at cheaper prices.

“[Glasshouse membership] is an incentive program for our regular theatre patrons.

“Members will have access to lower ticket prices for select theatre and gallery events throughout the year,” she said.

Members also receive 20 per cent discount at the Glasshouse Shop and will be given a priority booking period during December to claim the best seats for the 2013 program.

Deputy Mayor Trevor Sargeant said it is the fifth professional season delivered to the region by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council through the Glasshouse.

“This program ensures our community has access to the same high-quality performing arts opportunities available to other major centres and regional communities around Australia,” Cr Sargeant said.

Everything from festival comedy, film and music favourites, to dance - contemporary and ballet, and theatre classics – David Williamson’s The Club starring John Wood, Alfred Hitchock’s 39 Steps, Helen Morse and the original Tivoli Lovelies in Sundowner, and the incredible life story of Jack Charles told by him, will light up the Glasshouse stage.

Membership is $40 for adults, $35 for concession and $30 for students and ticket prices for each show vary.

Forms are available at the Glasshouse box office on Clarence Street until January 1, 2013.

General public tickets will be on sale from January 2, 2013.
