To recap, Ryan Frost and Melissa Edmunds harnessed the power of social media to catch the thieves that stole a laptop from their car which was parked in their private driveway.
The pair's laptop was full of precious family photos and information and in a bid to recapture their lost treasures, Facebook was an unlikely ally in its recovery.
There was a time in society where we could leave doors to homes unlocked, wallets tucked under a beach towel, or the house key under the mat. Those days are a distant memory and thieves are still getting a rails run from people who leave curtains wide open and windows unlatched and unlocked.
While Ryan and Melissa’s story had a happy ending, they would be the first to admit that we all need to be extra diligent when it comes to locking away valuables from prying eyes.
It is a timely lesson for all as we enter our busy summer season when there are more wandering eyes and legs on our streets.
