On November 11, 2012, a 29-year-old woman contacted police saying she had been held against her will after a man approached her at a Coffs Harbour boarding house.
The woman told police that after the man approached her she allegedly lost consciousness and woke up in unfamiliar surroundings.
The 29-year-old was able to escape and told her friends what happened.
Yesterday detectives attached to the Coffs Clarence Local Area Command arrested a 22-year-old Ballina man.
He was taken to Ballina Police Station and charged with taking and detaining a person with intent to obtain an advantage.
He was refused bail and will appear in Lismore Local Court today.
