The financially ailing community performance group picked up almost $7200 from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's community grants program.

Council's allocation of more than $170,000 in community grant funding to groups and organisations across the area came just before the Bago Magic's next show.

Bago Magic treasurer Marcus Ludriks said the $7196 council grant gave the group a little bit more hope.

"It's fantastic that will get us through the first term next year," he said. The not-for-profit group is seeking $25,000 a year to ensure its future.

People with a disability and others without disabilities take part on stage and behind the scenes. The participants also hone their creative skills in workshops.

Bago Magic had its final dress rehearsal planned last night before its latest sold out show, Red Boar Riot, hits the stage tonight and tomorrow night. The council decided the grant recipients at Wednesday night's council meeting.

Neighbourhood centres, Landcare groups and Christmas events are just some of the activities to be boosted by more than $170,000 in community grant funding.

The community grants program aims to assist community groups and organisations which improve community inclusiveness and wellbeing.

Mayor Peter Besseling believes a great cross section of residents will benefit from this year's allocation.

"Community groups are a vital part of our social fabric so it is extremely important council ensure that community groups right across the local government area have the support they need to deliver really practical grass roots projects," he said.

The general community development projects make up biggest section of funding with $126,415 being divided among 28 projects.

That is where Bago Magic fits in.

This money has supported everything from St Agnes Early Education Centre physical education program, a commercial kitchen fit out for the Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse to a new public address system for the Wauchope Poultry Club.

Christmas and new year cheer will also be embraced thanks to more than $14,000 in grants to events in Long Flat, Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Bonny Hills and Lake Cathie.

Groups to benefit from the $18,500 towards environmental restoration include two projects from Port Macquarie Landcare group, weed removal by the Friends of Kooloonbung Creek and the planting of food trees by the Koala Preservation Society

The remaining $14,280 has been allocated to three non-council owned community halls at Comboyne, Pappinbarra and Kendall.
