Hemming shines in cricket championships

FORMER Macquarie Hotel batsman Jeff Hemming has been one of the shining lights for NSW Country at the Australian Country Cricket Championships in Western Australia.

So far in the tournament, NSW Country is placed third after recording two wins - at the expense of South Australia Country and East Asia Pacific.

Hemming, who spent a season and a half with the HRDCA club, has amassed 116 runs, including a half century, at an average of 29.

In round one, NSW Country compiled 9-343, with Hemming contributing 44.

The side then dismissed South Australia Country for 340 in a nail-biter.

Queensland Country proved too strong for the New South Welshman in the second encounter.

NSW Country could only muster 174, however Hemming top scored with 58.

Queensland Country countered with 287, and restricted NSW Country to 6-187 in the second dig.

NSW Country hit back in the third round against East Asia Pacific.

After reaching 9-290, of which Hemming struck 13, NSW Country bundled its rivals out for 257.

NSW Country tackles Victoria Country in its next match at Waroona Recreation Reserve, Waroona.
