TEENAGER Rebekah Ramsay is the Port Macquarie City Bowling Club’s latest “golden girl”.
The 15-year-old collected gold and silver medals at the recent Australian Junior Championships at Halekulani.
Ramsay, who contested the BCiB under 25 NSW Singles Championships earlier this week, won the triples title and finished runner-up in the fours section.
The results allowed New South Wales to clean sweep the major accolades.
During a stunning campaign, the state secured two gold, four silver and a bronze medal from just eight disciplines, as well as the boys, girls and overall trophies.
New South Wales ended up on 70 points, six clear of Queensland with Victoria (42) third.
In the girls category, the state squad amassed 40 points, knocking over their northern counterparts on a countback, and South Australia registered 26.
Ramsay, along with team mates Kenita Monks and Megan Walsh, defeated their Queensland rivals Kirsty deWaard, Lauren Ingham and Shahn Griffiths 19-18 in the triples decider.
Earlier in the tournament, New South Wales accounted for Northern Territory 20-13, South Australia 28-9 and ACT 16-11.
South Australia upstaged Western Australia 17-13 to collect the bronze.
In the fours final, Queensland claimed the spoils with Bribie Island’s Zoe Jones skipping deWaard, Ingham and Griffiths to a 15-12 victory over Sarah Boddington, Ramsay, Monks and Sarah Vesenjak.
The New South Wales quartet had earlier beaten Northern Territory 34-11, South Australia 19-12 and ACT 33-3.
South Australia picked up third spot.
It’s been a fantastic couple of months for Ramsay, who also took out the 2009 Under 18 Girls Singles State Championships at Windang.
