IT began five years ago as a grudge match: The local lads of Lighthouse Beach taking on the blokes from Port Macquarie’s central business district.
What was expected to be a one-off game has become an annual event.
The fifth match was played on Saturday at Tuffins Lane, and the CBD Slayers claimed a 21-run victory.
This annual grudge match between the Lighthouse Beach Rippers and the CBD Slayers is not only
competitive – but there are also a lot of long friendships between these two teams.
With victory on Saturday, and a draw in the first year, the CBD Slayers have pegged their coastal cousins back to a 3-2 overall lead.
