22 Feb, 2010 09:16 AM
CONSTABLE Printing captured the 2009-10 Hastings River District Women’s Cricket Association crown in a thriller at Wayne Richards Park, Port Macquarie, on Friday night.

Sandie Bennett Sports Therapy put up a strong challenge in the season decider, however just missed claiming the honours.

In the end, Constable’s reached the target with three balls to spare.

Bennett’s opted to bat first and posted 7-70 from their allotted 15 overs.

Megan Velardi and Maree Fens were the pick of the top order, scoring 13 and 10 runs respectively.

Kate Jackson collected 2-4 and Erin Clarke snared 2-17.

Constable’s started their chase poorly, losing Jacalyn Kennedy without a run on the board.

But, Lauren Dickinson (14) and Melissa Norup, who averaged 92 with the bat in 2009-10, steadied the ship.

Norup remained unbeaten on 20, and gained strong support from Jackson and Gabrielle Easey.
