UNIONS members will make their voices heard in Port Macquarie today when Premier Barry O'Farrell brings his cabinet to town.
Nurses, firefighters, teachers and other public sector workers will rally outside Port Macquarie Panthers to voice their anger at the NSW government’s plan to cut arbitration rights and fix pay increases for public sector employees.
The rally is planned for 11am, immediately before NSW government community cabinet meets at the venue.
Unions NSW Secretary Mark Lennon said the rally would ask NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell to explain his unfair attack on their rights.
“These unfair laws trample all over workplace rights, leaving nurses, firefighters and others with the worst workplace laws,” Unions NSW Secretary Mark Lennon said.
The rally will ask Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams and others to explain why they did not announce the wages plan before the state election in March.
Meanwhile the Premier nd his cabinet will take questions from the floor at the community cabinet public forum at Panthers from noon until 1.30pm.
It is expecet clean energy campaigners, flood-affected residents and coal seam gas objectors will make their presence known.
