 Quad bike plan on hold

Quad bike plan on hold

20 Nov, 2009 03:00 AM
MORE information is being sought about a plan to create quad bike tracks on a property near Telegraph Point.

A proposal is before Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to develop two quad bike tracks and associated facilities on a Sun Valley Rd property at Cooperabung, 3km north of Telegraph Point.

The council’s development assessment panel deferred the proposal on Wednesday to enable the objectors to organise an additional noise impact study and allow the applicant to submit an operational management plan.

The plan would address noise, access and booking schedules.

Consideration should also be given to reducing proposed hours of operation and providing acoustic barriers between tracks and nearest homes.

Wednesday’s meeting heard the quad bike track would be a family-focused small scale development.

Noise-modified quad bikes would be used.

Residents objected to noise, road safety and land value concerns.

The development application will come back before the panel early next month.
