WAUCHOPE ballet dancer Jarryd Madden has taken the leap from hometown lad to member of the Australian Ballet.
He returns home tomorrow to meet with students from his former ballet school, Francessca-Louise Academy
of Dance and Performing Arts, now known as Dynasty Dance Studio.
Madden will chat to students about his journey which began as a three-year-old to his acceptance into the The Australian Ballet in 2008.
With his mentor, Francessca-Louise O’Donnell, he will answer questions and share memories of early dance classes.
As a16-year-old, Madden joined Melbourne’s National Theatre Ballet School and later was a guest performer with The Australia Ballet during its 2007 season of The Nutcracker.
Madden’s visit is the result of a collaboration between the National Australia Bank (NAB) and The Australian Ballet called My Home Town Inspiration.
The initiative seeks to recognise
and reward ballet schools for their part in providing education and
inspiration to young dancers.
“Miss Francessca was a massive help and inspiration when I was a child and I always wanted to return and say thank you,” Madden said.
He will be at Watermans Cafe, High St, Wauchope from 3pm on tomorrow.
