House fire contained

EMERGENCY services rushed to a house fire in Port Macquarie this morning.

Neighbours raised the alarm when they saw thick smoke billowing from the house.

Two fire engines and the hazardous materials unit raced to Gilmore St along with police and ambulance personnel.

The house was unoccupied at the time but it is believed a woman and her 13-year-old son live in the rented cottage.
